This past spring it was announced that CityBeat was partnering with Music and Event Management Inc. to produce the MidPoint Music Festival going forward. Today, MEMI (a subsidiary of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra which books events at Riverbend Music Center, Taft Theater and other venues) has announced several details about the 2016 MidPoint fest, including the first wave of bookings.

Artists announced for this year's event include Band Of Horses, Future Islands, Bob Mould, Nada Surf, JJ Grey & Mofro, Wolf Parade, Reggie Watts, Lucero, Frightened Rabbit, Houndmouth, Kamasi Washington, Josh Ritter, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, The Mountain Goats, The Wood Brothers, Tokyo Police Club, Car Seat Headrest, Antibalas, Langhorne Slim, The Budos Band, Russian Circles, Elephant Revival, AJJ, The James Hunter Six, Aloha, Joan of Arc, Helms Alee, The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die, Into It. Over It. and Lucy Dacus. Look for more lineup announcements later this summer.

Another change is in the staging. MidPoint will now be even more concentrated in Over-the-Rhine, with all four stages located outdoors near Main Street and around Sycamore and 12th streets. It will now be easier than ever to “stage hop” at MidPoint. (One of the four stages, which will be set up in parking lots, will be free to the public.)

Three-day MPMF passes are $99 and go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. through ticketmaster.com. To avoid extra fees, tickets can also be purchased at the box offices at Taft Theatre and Riverbend Music Center. Single-day tickets will be made available when the full lineup is announced. Three-day VIP passes will also go on sale Friday for $175.

Full info is available at mpmf.com and you can also read more in the Spill It column in this week’s issue of CityBeat.
