Crowds will pack Memorial Hall in Over-the-Rhine once again this fall for the fourth installment of Cincinnati’s contemporary music series.

The Longworth-Anderson Series, a music event that was launched in 2017 by the Cincinnati Memorial Hall Society, showcases nationally known music artists of many genres, ranging from Bluegrass to Hip Hop. The series has hosted a number of Grammy Award-winning acts in addition to other world-class artists,

This year's series will be the first since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Alt-Folk singer Neko Case will kick things off Friday, Sept, 3. The Grammy Award nominee will showcase her Country Rock music alongside Pop artist AC Newman (a member of Canadian Indie Rock group The New Pornographers with Case).

Meshell Ndegeocello will bring her lengthy R&B and Funk discography to the series Saturday, Sept 4.

From there, the series transitions to three-time Grammy Award winner Taj Mahal. The Blues artist will groove on the guitar, piano, banjo and harmonica during hits from his 50-year career Sunday, Sept. 12.

Bluegrass group Watkins Family Hour and special guest Courtney Hartman will be the next musicians to take the Memorial Hall stage in the Longworth-Anderson Series on Thursday, Sept. 16.

The next artist, Jazz guitarist Pat Metheny, will perform music from his discography that includes three Certified Gold albums Saturday, Oct. 16.

Nashville Music Awards Artist of the Year John Hiatt and the Jerry Douglas Band will play their Bluegrass music Tuesday, Nov. 9, before Shake & Holla Tour, a Southern Rock band, concludes The Longworth-Anderson Series on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Each concert begins at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Memorial Hall will offer local food from eateries such as Keystone Bar & Grill and Lucious Q, a press release says. The events will also feature wine and beer tastings from local distributors as well as live local music before the headlining shows begin.

Tickets for the series’ events can be purchased now at memorialhallotr.com.

Last year, the Longworth-Anderson Series and its advisory committee introduced the LAS Underground Virtual Concert Series to provide intimate, COVID-safe performances. The virtual concerts continues this year, with the next event scheduled for Friday, Aug. 13 with the band Berachah Valley. It will be streamed live for free on the LAS Facebook page, but donations will be accepted.
