A benefit for the family of locally-bred singer/songwriter Katie Reider takes place Saturday at Dirty Jack’s in Elmwood Place. The event — also serving as a celebration of Katie’s life and music — starts at 8 p.m. and is hosted by Debra Randall, the show’s organizer and a WAIF radio personality (she hosts the show EveryWoman, which airs Saturdays at 1 p.m.). The show will also feature raffles, giving away Reider memorabilia, including watches and jewelry as well as other items donated by local businesses and institutions.
The musical lineup includes Jen Foster, Jayne Sachs Band, Whitney Barricklow, The Blue Umbrellas, Frozen Feet, Holly Spears and Chakras.
All of the money collected will be donated to the online “500,000 Hits in 365 Days” (500kin365.org) benefit for Katie’s family, which collects money by offering MP3 downloads for $1. Reider had many medical bills during her two-year battle with aggressive tumors.

• Local Rockabilly/Honky Tonk faves StarDevils have a new CD out. StarDevils Trio was released in September and has drawn high praise from the international Rockabilly press. This Friday, the band is having a little fun with their CD release party in the Southgate House’s ballroom, turning it into a big ol’ Johnny Cash tribute show. The third annual “Cash Tribute” will feature the ’Devils, along with Ryan Malott (of 500 Miles to Memphis) with Kelly Thomas and Rockabilly greats Rumble Club. (stardevils.com)
• Area singer/songwriter Lauren Houston also has a new CD available. The Northern Kentucky resident will celebrate the release of her debut — the gorgeous Folk/Pop/Country gem, Roots & Wings — with a show Friday at Elk Creek Winery in Owenton, Ky. • Kristen Kreft, Beth Harris, Sharon Udoh, Wendy Oakley, Whitney Barricklow and Veronica Grim will perform at the monthly “One More Girl on a Stage” showcase in the Southgate House’s lounge Friday. The femme-friendly event — which collects donations for a variety of different charities (admission is always free) — will this month benefit the local Dramakinetics organization, which fosters a performing arts program for children (read more at dramakinetics.org).
