A marching band from Springfield will be representing the Buckeye State in Wednesday’s inauguration proceedings for President-elect Joe Biden.

The Kenton Ridge High School Marching Cougars, part of the Northeastern Local School District, was chosen to perform in a virtual “Parade Across America.”

Under normal circumstances, the inauguration parade features a variety of bands, service organizations and equestrian teams making their way down Pennsylvania Avenue toward the White House.

With inauguration events scaled back due to the pandemic and the Jan. 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol, a virtual “parade” is being livestreamed instead.

The Kenton Ridge musicians recorded their segment at Wittenburg University, also located in Springfield.

The Parade Across America is set to begin at 3:15 p.m. and will be livestreamed at BidenInaugural.org and on the Presidential Inaugural Committee’s YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Twitch pages, along with a number of TV networks.
