Popular singer/songwriter John Legend (who was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio) is returning to his home state this weekend for a few campaign rallies in support of various candidates. Legend recently became the youngest person and first African-American man to achieve “EGOT” status — meaning he has Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony representation in his trophy case.

On Sunday, Nov. 4, Legend will attend an 11 a.m. rally for Hamilton Country Democratic Party candidates on Smith Road in Norwood.

The rally — hosted by congressional candidate Aftab Pureval’s campaign — will take place near where Smith Road ends (at 4900 Smith Road, off of Maple Ave.), then there will be a short march at 1 p.m. to the Hamilton County Board of Elections (which is at 4700 Smith Road). The rally is also a final effort to get voters to cast their ballots early. Early voting hours Sunday are 1-5 p.m. Anyone registered to vote in Ohio who resides in Hamilton County can vote early at the BoE through Monday, Nov. 5 (find the rest of the hours and more info here).

According to the Facebook event invite from the Aftab for Congress campaign (which promises “free food and live music,” so it seems a safe bet that Legend will sing), appearing with Pureval and Legend will be congressional candidate Jill Schiller, Ohio Auditor candidate Zack Space, Ohio Treasurer candidate Rob Richardson and Attorney General candidate Steve Dettelbach, as well Ohio Democratic Party chairman David Pepper and the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Tom Perez. Legend will also reportedly be rallying and canvassing in Cleveland and Dayton throughout the day Sunday.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6. Click here for CityBeat's rundown of the candidates and ballot issues.

An earlier version of this story stated that Sunday is the last day for early voting in Ohio. Registered voters can also cast ballots on Monday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
