Cincinnati music greats Over the Rhine have announced the lineup for their fourth-annual Nowhere Else Festival, a three-day music and arts event held at OTR members Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist's farm in rural Clinton County.

This year's Nowhere Else — set for the weekend of May 24-26 — will feature James McMurtry, Birds of Chicago, John Paul White, Leigh Nash, Joan Shelley, Carrie Newcomer and others. Over the Rhine will play throughout the weekend with their Band of Sweethearts group, which features Jay Bellerose, Jennifer Condos, Bradley Meinerding and Dan Dorff.

The festival isn't just limited to music, though. Nowhere Else also offers intimate experiences with various other types of artists. This year exhibits from painter Thomas Metcalf and National Geographic photographer Rodney Bursiel will be displayed. Other artists and writers will also be at the 20-acre farm for Nowhere Else, participating in talks and workshops throughout the weekend.

"After living much of the last 30 years on the road, we have been trying to figure out how to coax people to come to us," Detweiler and Bergquist said in a statement about hosting the annual "musical family reunion." "We have come to believe that if you want to sustain a music career in 2019 and beyond, you’re probably going to need to get pretty good at building community. We’ve been blessed with a rich community that has coalesced around our music, so it makes perfect sense to gather together on our farm once a year"

"People who attend the festival often describe it as ‘healing.’ We didn’t start a music festival with that in mind, but increasingly we are becoming aware that music and art and a healing process are often deeply connected.”
