Punk Meets the Trek-father: Henry Rollins and William Shatner, Both in Cincinnati This Week, Just Released a Christmas Duet

The pair teamed up on “Jingle Bells” for Shatner’s holiday album and it’s everything you’d imagine

Punk legend Henry Rollins is performing in Cincinnati tonight, doing his “Traveling Slideshow” presentation. Saturday, Star Trek icon William Shatner will be in the Queen City for a screening of the movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. (CityBeat talked to both this week; see the Rollins story here and the Shatner preview piece here.)

The two events are too far apart to hope for any sort of crossover (Shatner doing “Rise Above”? Rollins doing Shatner’s “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” cover?), but today the music gods delivered the next best thing. The first single from Captain Kirk’s forthcoming Christmas album, Shatner Klaus, is available to hear now. Listen to “Jingle Bells," featuring Shatner doing his over-dramatic vocal deliver and Rollins cheerfully grinding out the hook, below.

Looks like we have a new addition for our “Weird-Ass Christmas Music” playlist.
