If the first three singles are any indication, Cincinnati native Andy Biersack's forthcoming album, The Ghost of Ohio, is going to feature a ton of references to the 28-year-old rocker's hometown.

A month ago, the onetime west-sider Biersack — performing under his stage name, Andy Black — released the track/music video "Westwood Road" (the video has over 1.5 million views on YouTube) and a couple of weeks ago he dropped the new album's title track, the video for which was shot in various locations around Cincinnati, including Delhi, Westwood and Western Hills, the area in which Biersack grew up.

Biersack's just-released new single, "The Promise," also references growing up in the Queen City. The lyrics appear to be based around his determination to leave his hometown and pursue his dreams in Los Angeles, where Biersack moved about a decade ago and, indeed, found tremendous success as the frontperson for/mastermind of the internationally beloved Black Veil Brides, then as a solo artist. Biersack is signed to the huge major label Republic Records, home of releases by Ariana Grande, Drake, Florence + the Machine, James Blake, Lil Wayne, Post Malone, Pearl Jam, The Avett Brothers, The Weeknd and many other big-time acts.

Biersack says "The Promise" was inspired by driving around the Tri-State area (it includes references to local roadways like I-75 and US 50).

“’The Promise’ was inspired by my days spent driving from my neighborhood on the west side of Cincinnati and heading towards the city and into Northern Kentucky where I spent almost all of my teenage years in bands, working on a dream,” he says in a press release.

“Every day I would use that drive as a chance to plan and think and hope and wish that one day I would be able to make music and tour the world. Over the years that dream has remained, but like all of us as we grow up, often our interests and methods change over time. This song is about trying to remain true to what you wanted the most when you had nothing and keeping that very same passion and drive close to your heart.”

The Ghost of Ohio (which features a companion graphic novel) will be released on April 12 (read more here). Biersack's North America/UK tour for the new album brings him to Bogart's on April 25.

Biersack recently talked about the new album in a video interview with BUILD Series.
