The Black Shades are the kind of high-energy band you can’t help but love. From Bowling Green, Ky., the Shades formed after member Aaron Clark and former member Michael Dean split with a band you might know called Sleeper Agent. The Black Shades have played shows all over the country with artists including fellow Bowling Greeners Cage the Elephant, as well as The Walkmen and Diplo (among others).

Most recently, the Shades released the EP Told Ya So, which has been successful in the college radio world, charting for 10 weeks in the CMJ Top 200.

With songs that are catchy and performances that are electrifying, The Black Shades have an image and sound akin to The Hives. The members' outfits are always coordinated and usually pretty retro. Honestly, there isn’t much not to like about the Black Shades. You can tell these guys are longtime fans of Rock & Roll and committed to keeping the spirit alive.

THE BLACK SHADES play Saturday, Aug. 11 at MOTR Pub in Over-the-Rhine with guest Damn It To Hell. Check out performance times and get venue details here.
