PromoWest Pavilion at OVATION is Newport's brand new riverfront concert venue, slated to officially open Aug. 29 — an answer to the also-freshly-minted Andrew J Brady ICON Music Center at The Banks in Cincinnati (capitalization both their own).

A boon for live music fans in the area, both have indoor and outdoor stages and both have an inaugural packed lineup.

OVATION just announced a new addition to this year's show roster: Las Vegas Pop Rockers The Killers are coming Sept. 20. Tickets go on sale Friday, Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. at ovationpavilion.com.

“OVATION is jamming! From Rock to Rap to Country, we have a little of everything for everyone and we can’t wait to welcome fans to our brand-new venue. The Killers is like the cherry on top of a great, diverse roster of artists for us," said Scott Stienecker, PromoWest Productions and AEG Presents Regional Vice President and CEO, in a release.

Modeled after PromoWest Productions' venues like Columbus' EXPRESS LIVE! and the Stage AE in Pittsburgh, OVATION features three individual concert spaces — an outdoor amphitheater, an indoor music hall and an indoor club — and boasts "state-of-the-art" lighting and acoustical systems as well as a moveable stage. The indoor audience capacity is about 2,700 while outdoors can hold 7,000. (Comparatively, the ICON across the river has a 4,500-person capacity inside, and 8,000-person capacity in the outdoor ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park.)

The venue will play host to live music, as well as sporting and special events like boxing, fundraisers, weddings and more.
