Conservatives/right-wingers who are boycotting all entertainment made by entertainers who don't express their love and gratitude for the current president have minimal entertainment options these days. One who passes most of those music fans' "true patriot" smell test is Kid Rock, and the rapper-turned-rocker-turned-Country-singer's popularity appears to be as high as ever.
Riverbend Music Center today announced that Rock's Sept. 8 concert has sold out. (If you're dying to go but didn't get your seats in time, there appear to be a few single tickets available among Ticketmaster's resale offerings.)
Politics aside, Rock is still a phenomenal stage performer. But does his staying power deserve all of the credit for the sell-out? It's hard to believe that "support act" Wheeler Walker Jr. didn't have something to do with pushing sales over the top. He's a Country superstar in waiting and will probably be doing sold-out week-long residencies at Madison Square Garden by this time next year. So if you have tickets for the Sept. 8 show, consider yourself extra lucky.
