Like a corner barbershop or bar, locally owned and operated coffeehouses often serve as a central “water cooler” hangout in a neighborhood, where people congregate and share stories and information (sort of like a real-life social network Web site). College Hill Coffee Co. has been just that for College Hill and this week the coffeehouse/restaurant celebrates the fifth anniversary of its rebirth, when owner Tina Stoeberl took over and made CCCC the neighborhood hub it is today. There are “five-themed” food specials all week (Sunday, for example, the first 20 people through the door get a free $5 gift certificate) and the weekend features performances by two of the area’s finest veteran singer/songwriters. Friday, Tracy Walker performs for Night 1 of the celebratory weekend, while Chris Collier plays the coffeehouse Saturday night. Performances at College Hill Coffee Co. (6128 Hamilton Ave., College Hill; 513-542-2739) start at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. www.collegehillcoffeeco.com.
