2 Chainz is scheduled to appear at the 2017 Ubahn festival this September in downtown Cincinnati

Late last month, the initial performers for the 2017 edition of Ubahn festival were announced, showing the event (presented in the Riverfront Transit Center tunnels near Paul Brown Stadium) is dedicated to continuing its growth and upward trajectory in terms of booking high-level acts. Now in its sixth year, the event has also featured DJ and EDM artists in the past, but it’s been skewing more and more towards a more dominant Hip Hop flavor, as evidenced by last year’s fest (which featured Nas, Machine Gun Kelly and Atmosphere, as well as mash-up king Girl Talk) and this year’s early lineup announcement.

When Ubahn returns to the underground Sept. 8-9, it will feature some blockbuster Hip Hop stars at the top of its roster, each one having the pull to headline big shows on their own. Big Sean, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, former Outkast member Big Boi (who last appeared in Cincinnati at last summer’s Bunbury Music Festival as part of his collaborative project with Phantogram called Big Grams) and crossover Christian rapper Lecrae are scheduled to appear, and those names alone highly suggest this will be the biggest Ubahn ever. Young Pop singer/songwriter (and Instagram/YouTube superstar) Niykee Heaton was also announced for this year’s fest. If you Spotify, click here to listen to a playlist featuring tracks by the Ubahners announced so far.

More artists will be announced at a later date and, if you’re a performer whose style might fit well with Ubahn’s programming, one of those artists could be you. The event has opened a submissions page for musical acts interested in being considered for a slot at the 2017 fest. Click here to submit. The deadline is June 29. There is a $15 charge for submissions.

Ubahn is about more than just music, though. The event has featured skateboarding exhibitions, Hip Hop dance and art, area craft beer, food trucks and various other vendors. Those interested in being a vendor at this year’s event can email [email protected] for details.

To keep up to date on the latest Ubahn happenings, follow the fest on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The official site is ubahnfest.com.

Two-day Ubahn tickets are available now through Ticketmaster (click here).
