Jules Verne needed 80 days to travel around the world, but Saturday you’ll be able to make the trip (culturally, at least) in about 10 hours as the World Music Fest returns for its fourth annual celebration of global music, dance and culture. Part of Covington’s month-long “Full Spectrum” arts celebration, World Music Fest takes place in four venues (Cafe Europa, Artisans Enterprise Center, Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center, Step-N-Out Studio) and features an incredibly wide range of artistic expression.
At Step-N-Out starting at noon, there will be dance demonstrations and workshops covering everything from salsa to swing to bellydancing. Fittingly, Café Europa has the music of Europe from 2-6 p.m. with artists like Sylvain Acher and Dennis O’Hagan. Artisans Enterprise Center has the sounds of Asia from 4-8 p.m. with Mohenjo Daro (pictured), Nimi Kai and the Ming Ke Trio. The fest’s main stage at Baker Hunt runs 6-10 p.m. and features Mayan Ruins, Acarya and others.
