A-Line Alive and on the Scene

Births are excellent occasions to celebrate and reflect on how we got here and where we're going. One moment it/he/she doesn't exist, the next moment it/he/she does and instantly you can't imagine what life was like without the new arrival.

Today we at CityBeat are celebrating the birth of a new publication, A-Line, and web site. In case you're wondering, it's a girl.—-

As described by Editor Maija Zummo, A-Line is the portable lifestyle guide for Greater Cincinnati’s eclectic, modern woman. With intelligent features that connect and inspire, it taps into your imagination through the latest fashion trends, unique cultural happenings, updated and inherited family recipes, literature, film, music and creative DIY projects.

Like its namesake, the classic but quirky and universally flattering A-Line dress silhouette, A-Line simply fits.

We envision A-Line as a community that connects area women via the magazine, the web site and regular events. We hope you'll check out the concept and see how it fits your sense of style and your life in Cincinnati.

Maija spoke with WNKU-FM recently about how A-Line came together and how we'll reach out to new readers. Listen to the interview here.

A-Line Magazine will be available for free at more than 200 high-profile distribution spots around Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky — mostly clothing boutiques, hair salons, hip restaurants, entertainment venues, cool retail stores and arts organizations. The May issue, hot off the press, will be delivered throughout the rest of this week and into next, so look for it.

Here are a few spots that will be carrying A-Line Magazine:

A-Line is the result of a year or more of planning and six months of hard work, primarily by Maija, Art Director Rebecca Sylvester and Sales Specialist Shannon Loeffler. These three carved out a corner of CityBeat, covered it in teal and put nice shoes on it — and the results speak for themselves.

Please help us celebrate our new arrival at our launch party May 9 at the old Contemporary Arts Center space on Fifth Street downtown. The public party starts at 8 p.m. We're co-hosting the event with Cincinnati Fashion Week and sponsoring it along with Absolut Vodka and Vitamin Water. Bar proceeds will benefit Stop AIDS.
