Environmental artist and longstanding arts advocate Alice Weston first began photographing crystals after her daughter brought home an image of a cell under microscope. The similarity between these miniature microcosms and art that she owned (particularly a Dubuffet) was not lost on Weston.
For this month’s Art After Dark series at the Cincinnati Art Museum (CAM), Weston’s animated microphotographs of crystals, set to a musical score by composer/performer Susan Botti, will be shown with accompaniment by live concert pianist Phillip Bush under the moniker Crystal Clues to the Sublime.
An art-making station and tour of a fashion highlights of the CAM’s permanent collection are also available.
5-9 p.m.; Crystal Clues performances at 7 and 8 p.m.; tours at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Free; reservations not required. Cincinnati Art Museum, 953 Eden Park Drive, Mount Adams, cincinnatiartmuseum.org.
