DOcumenTaRy, currently on display in the Know Theatre’s Underground space, is comprised of series of documentary photographs. Because photography as a medium generally snares facts from real life, the line between “documentary” and other fine art approaches to image-making is vague. The seven Art Academy student-artists presenting photographs taken of the surrounding Over-the-Rhine neighborhood explore this terrain, artfully framing details and ephemeral moments from a vibrant, diverse community. It is not that they make us aware of an OTR we don’t know. Rather, these images give us pause to look more closely at what we already know: sweaty concerts in the alternative music venues like Bikehaus or the quiet interludes of reading afforded through Iris Bookcafe on Main Street. The exhibition includes work by Sarah Baker, Lauren Dowrey, Evan Hand, Rian Hunter, Brittany Justice, Tiffany Richardson and Kelly Tadge. This Friday, Know offers a reception with the artists from 6-8 p.m. Exhibition continues through April 18.
