This summer’s been so depleting that I’ve been endlessly thrilled with the uniqueness of Thunder-Sky Inc.’s new show. World Domination: New Works by Tony Dotson and Antonio Adams flashes our lives before our eyes through an exotic cast of historic figures, celebrities and public personalities. For instance, in Adams’ "The Street Fight Is Not Over," Lady Gaga faces off with Osama bin Laden, with Sesame Street puppets and glamorous news journalist Nancy Grace looking on. Dotson’s huge "Lizzy Borden Paper Doll" deconstructs the infamous hatchet-wielding spinster into hacked up pieces. The two artists collaborate on several works including one in which Simon Cowell and Kirstie Alley seem to be cast as villains responsible for the spill in the gulf. There’s even an Adams painting with Jesus riding a unicorn. An added bonus is Kitty-Cat Extravaganza, a wild group exhibition Adams curated with Millicent Larson and Melanie Derrick including works by Laura Herman, Nicole Manning, Katie Labmeier and many others, on view downstairs. Both shows exhibit through September 17th. Thunder-Sky is located at 4573 Hamilton Ave. in Northside. Gallery Hours: Friday 6-9 p.m., Saturday and Sunday Noon-5 p.m., or by appointment.
