You have just a few weeks left to view two excellent exhibitions currently on display at the Taft Museum of Art: Antique Christmas and Telling Tales. The former, a display of antique Christmas ornaments, toys and decorations, features everything from a German Nativity pyramid from 1890 to a tree trimmed entirely in vintage cat and dog ornaments and figures.

Telling Tales is an exhibition of large-scale American paintings of narrative art from the 19th-century — a time when American artists had just begun to invent their own visual language, different than their European predecessors.

Antique Christmas on view through Jan. 5; Telling Tales through Jan. 12. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. $10 adults; $8 seniors, students and teachers; $4 ages 11-17; free for ages 11 and younger; free on Sundays. Taft Museum of Art, 316 Pike St., Downtown, taftmuseum.org.
