Fire and Ice at NVision is the latest exhibition by prolific local artist Jeanine Mullin Steele. As a former art director, designer and photographer, Steele has documented subjects that range from the exotic (Cuba) to the domestic (weddings). Known for innovative forays into sculpture, Steele has been creating remarkable pieces by crocheting clothing out of copper wire. For this most recent show, Steele has returned to photography to present a body of 20 plus works that investigate the abstract properties of both fire and 'ice.'  Her depictions of fire are undoubtedly the most compelling pictures in the show. The flicker of the myriad flames suggests apparitions emerging from a dark background. Steele’s images of ice — in this case, close cropped photos of artisan glass — form a cool counterpoint to the 'heat' of the flames in this delightful exhibition. On view through Jan. 15.
