Artists Jan Nickum and Rebecca Weller show a selection of their paintings and assemblages at 1305 Gallery. Weller, an Art Academy of Cincinnati-educated artist, paints vintage figures with either stained floral painted or printed patterned backgrounds made using handcrafted screens, as well as a series of “Cake Portraits,” which allow her to experiment with nuances of color. Nickum, for her part, exhibits her assemblages of precious objects and ephemera, as well as detailed portraits of birds on texture-painted boards.
