· MOTH — Provisions, Fiction and Gear/Drop Deaf

After buying Drop Deaf, I had to pull out Provisions, Fiction and Gear. "Hearing Things" is one of the catchiest songs ever. However, Drop Deaf is so raw ... I just love it.

· The Rolling Stones — Forty Licks

I have never owned a Rolling Stones CD until recently. Don't know why. I've always loved the songs. I finally got off my ass when Forty Licks was released. When you listen to their work as a whole, it really is amazing.

· Promenade — Part One

This local CD has had the longest "CD changer" life of all the local CDs (I listen to). The energy of "The Grab" and "Lazy Way" is Promenade at their best.

· The Darkness — Permission to Land

I know what you're thinking, "What the $@%*!?" First, remember, I don't judge MPMF submissions. Second, I'm a product of the '80s. Third, they are a blast live. I forgot how much fun a Rock show could be. It's a guilty pleasure. Kind of like Hostess Ho Hos.

· Various Artists — MPMF 2004 compilation CD

This is not a shameless plug. It's true. Danny Fisher did a great job once again, and it's a great mix of music.

THE MIDPOINT MUSIC FESTIVAL (mpmf.com) takes place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at various venues around Downtown and Over-the-Rhine.
