With just five days left until the primary election, Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner is touring the state in her converted school bus, “the Courage Express,” for some last-minute campaigning in her U.S. Senate bid.
Brunner made local stops at Take the Cake in Northside, Keller’s IGA in Clifton and Fountain Square downtown.—-
Although the Democratic Party establishment — including President Clinton — has thrown its support behind Brunner’s primary challenger, ex-Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher, Brunner has widespread progressive, grassroots support. In fact, the latest Quinnipiac University poll finds Brunner doing just as well as Fisher in a face-off with Republican candidate Rob Portman.
The poll shows Brunner winning against Portman by 40-36 percent; it shows Fisher beating Portman 40-37 percent.
That’s within the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percent.
Quinnipiac surveyed 1,568 registered Ohio voters from April 21-26.
