Buffalo Killers Release LP 3 This Summer

Garage/Psych Pop trio Buffalo Killers will have its third long-player, titled 3, released on Aug. 2 through Alive Records (also home to Brian Olive’s recent sophomore solo album). The band is set to host release parties in Dayton (at Canal Street Tavern July 15) and Cincinnati (at MOTR Pub July 16), then head out west for the start of what will likely be an ongoing, extensive tour for 3. Check out the new album track “Circle Day” above.

The trio — which found big fans amongst the members of The Black Keys and The Black Crowes, doing tour dates with both — also appears on the new Guided By Voices tribute album, Sing For Your Meat: A Tribute to Guided By Voices. The band’s cover of the GBV tune “Scalding Creek” leads off the album, which was released in April on No More Fake Labels and also features contributions from The Flaming Lips, Lou Barlow, Crooked Fingers, Jason Isbell, Blitzen Trapper, Superdrag, Elf Power and Thurston Moore. Kelley Deal of The Breeders lends the Killers a hand on the track with some guest vocals — the sessions for the song at the local Candyland studio produced by local music vet Mike Montgomery led to Deal and Montgomery forming the duo R. Ring.
