A rare leopard is back from the brink of extinction in Russia thanks to recent conservation efforts. At least 57 Amur leopards now exist in Russia’s Land of the Leopard National Park, up from just 30 in 2007. An additional eight to 12 leopards were counted in adjacent areas of China. WORLD +2

Oxford and Miami University officials are considering applying for a federal grant to add an Amtrak passenger rail stop near the university. The passenger Cardinal Line currently travels through Oxford on its way to Chicago but does not provide passenger pick-up. CINCINNATI +2

A new survey by Bankrate.com found that nearly four out of 10 Americans are living on the edge of financial ruin, with savings that are equal to or lower than their credit card debt. About 24 percent have more credit card debt than savings. Many workers are finding it harder than ever to stock away money for emergencies, as wages have fallen or remained stagnant in recent years. Cincinnati was recently featured on an episode of the national HGTV show House Hunters. The show, which aired Feb. 19, followed two local homebuyers on their quest to buy a house in Loveland with the help of an agent from Anderson-based Coldwell Banker.
