Al Jackson went from being a middle school teacher to stand-up comedian rather quickly — after doing a few open mics, he decided comedy audiences were actually less judgmental than seventh graders. He has enjoyed the career move, and show business has been good to him. He currently hosts a show on Children’s British Broadcasting Corporation and has appeared in several episodes of the FX series Legit. Onstage he’s talking about being married and having a family. “I discovered my 6-year-old has a photographic memory,” he says. “So I’m now officially too dumb to talk to my own son.”
