Alonzo Bodden is perhaps best known as the winner of the third season of Last Comic Standing a few years back. The former airline mechanic charmed audiences with his easygoing observational comedy and sometimes bewildered look at life. Lately, though, he’s been finding humor in the political process. His work on the popular NPR quiz show Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me! has helped. He also performed at the Montreal Comedy Festival with Lewis Black in a well-received show about the U.S. presidential elections. “Which are shaping up to be funnier and funnier,” Bodden adds. He still talks a little about his personal experiences, but current events have really captured his attention. “I go to write a joke about me on a date, but the nation arguing for two weeks over chicken sandwiches versus gay people is more hilarious.” $20.
