Comedian Chris Porter recently made a foray into another type of stand-up activity: He took a gig on a cruise ship — his first and last, it turns out. “It was the most terrible thing I’ve ever done,” he says. “The audiences were great, but it’s weird when the stage is going up and down.” It wasn’t a dream vacation, to be sure. “The line I was working for doesn’t give performers guest quarters. They give you crew quarters, which is just one step above a white-collar prison.”
