Growing up, Greg Morton was always interested in comedy, but it was animation, and the humor therein, that first captured his imagination. “Since I was a kid, I’ve always been a big fan (of cartoons) especially Warner Brothers. I used to draw a lot. I was an only child for nine years so that’s how I entertained myself. We didn’t have video games, so I’d just sit and draw pictures.” Now a stand-up, Morton is still inspired by those toons. On stage, Morton covers everything from his signature Star Wars bit to violence in schools. “How could you not know your kid is into Hitler?” he asks. “If your kid starts goose-stepping around the house, that’s a clue!” Morton then parades around the stage somewhat reminiscent of John Cleese’s “Ministry of Silly Walks.” “What are you doing son? Oh, I’m just trying on these new boots, dad.” The Funny Bone on the Levee, Newport. Thursday, May 31 through Sunday, June 3. $15-$17. 859-957-2000, funnyboneonthelevee.com.
