“I really just wanted to try and do something nice for a good cause,” says comedian Tabari McCoy, who organized Wednesday’s Laugh Til It Helps benefit show at Go Bananas; funds raised will benefit The Cure Starts Now, in honor of the memory of Lauren Hill. “In selecting a charity, I remembered interviewing a player at Xavier University, and he had a Lauren Hill towel in his dorm room,” McCoy says. “I remembered just how inspirational she was to people and thought to myself, ‘This would be a great way to honor her memory and raise funds for a great cause everyone could support.’ ” Many of the area’s top comedians will perform, and several local businesses have donated items to be raffled off. “People have a chance to support the local comedy scene, especially some of the younger comics, support a great cause and maybe win some great prizes.”
