“There have been many odd twists and turns over the last three years,” comedian John Evans says. The Tulsa native started doing stand-up 15 years ago in his hometown. From there he went to Minneapolis and finally Los Angeles. One of the big twists in that odyssey was getting married. “I didn’t think I’d get married because I have a weird look,” he tells audiences. “I found out if you have a weird look it can help you. Like on a date sometimes a girl will tell a guy he looks like someone famous to make him feel better, like a famous actor. When my wife and I first went out she said, ‘You know what you look like? Count Chocula.’ Is that a compliment? Are there cereal characters getting laid nowadays?”
A regular on The Bob & Tom Radio Show, Evans has also appeared on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham and NBC’s Last Comic Standing. He will be recording an album while performing this week in Cincinnati at Go Bananas in Montgomery Thursday-Sunday.
