“It’s slow and quiet, then all of a sudden it’s like you can’t catch your breath,” says comedian Paul Mecurio of his career. These days it’s been a case of the latter for the former Daily Show writer, and fans of his HBO Web series Got No Game will be glad to hear that new episodes are going to be produced soon.

Sports is a subject that Mecurio has always found humor in. His take on the Tiger Woods fiasco is simple enough: “He didn’t apply an important golfing principle to adultery — you’re supposed to finish one hole before you start on another.”

Radio listeners may also know Mecurio as “The Image Makeover Guy” from The Bob & Tom Show. The segment is so popular that segment a CD of his top “makeovers” will be released later this month. Meanwhile he continues to tour, write and develop TV shows. Three are currently in the works, but none of those projects will distract him while he’s in the Queen City.

“I’m really looking forward to going back to Cincinnati,” he says. “I always have a great time there.”

Paul Mecurio performs at Go Bananas Thursday through Sunday. Tickets are $8-$12. Find showtimes, buy tickets and get club details here.
