As a stand-up comic still moving up in the ranks, Roy Wood Jr. travels a lot. Traveling has actually provided Wood with a lot of new material. “I was on a flight from Houston to Tampa and they took my Skittles,” he says. “They took my fruit-flavored candy and dude told me ‘It might be a bomb.’ Terrorists are making bombs but they’re not taking time to make them bite-sized and tropical flavored. That’s not happening but you try to explain that without making a scene. Everybody on the flight thinks you’re a jerk cause you snuck candy on the plane.” But you won’t hear that joke again and again. “I try my best to constantly write new stuff and redefine my old stuff,” he says. “My whole thing with my act is not to be predictable.” Wood Jr. performs Thurday-Sunday at Go Bananas. $8-$12.
