Born in Ohio and raised in El Paso, Tex., Ryan Stout appeals to a wide swath of American culture. His usual stage attire, a suit and tie, belies some of the cringe-worthy things he shares with his audiences. “According to a new study, young girls’ math scores are now equal to young boys’ math scores for the first time in American history,” he informs a crowd to rousing applause. “Turns out a woman did the study and there’s no way the numbers could be right.” He adds: “If you’re offended by that joke, maybe you’re not so good with statistics.” Though he seems fearless on stage, he is anxious about one thing. “One of my jokes was in an episode of Monk,” he says. “Now I’m worried that I’m going to be on stage and do that bit I did years before, and some fat housewife is going to say ‘you got that from Monk!’ ” Ryan Stout performs at Go Bananas in Montgomery through Sunday. 8 p.m., plus a 10:30 p.m. showing Friday and Saturday. $8-$12. 513-984-9288, gobananascomedy.com.
