Hip Hop MC Talib Kweli is coming back to Cincinnati next Saturday (July 30) for a free show on Fountain Square. If you’ve got the bucks, you can also catch Talib and pal Mos Def when their reformed project Black Star comes to Bogart’s on Sept. 17. Tickets to catch the wildly critically acclaimed duo go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. and they’ll cost you a pretty penny — $42.50 in advance, $55 day of show or $99 for “VIP” tickets. Bogart’s is really stepping up its Hip Hop booking lately. This Friday, tickets to catch rising MC Mac Miller on Oct. 14 at the club go on sale. And tickets are on-sale now for the Ghostface/Raekwon/Mobb Deep show at Bogart’s Aug. 31 and Freeway's show Aug. 26, while Christian Hip Hop act LeCrae comes to Bogart’s Oct. 1 (tickets also go on sale this Friday). Also, Snoop Dogg plays the venue Aug. 1, Tech N9ne (a veteran MC who recently got a huge boost in sales and rep when Lil Wayne dropped his name) is there Aug. 4 and Indie Hip Hop superstars Atmosphere will rock it there Aug. 16 with a bunch of guests. 

Big Head Todd might sounds like a weird Hip Hop MC’s name, but Todd actually the frontman for popular Rock band Big Head Todd and the Monsters, who come to town Oct. 7 for a coheadlining show with acclaimed singer/songwriter John Hiatt at the lovely Taft Theatre. Tickets go on sale next Friday at 10 a.m. here or at the Taft box office.

Finally, MOTR Pub has teamed up with Memorial Hall (home of the MusicNOW festival, next to Music Hall) and Hudepohl beer to present the opening night of locally-bred Indie/Hip Hop/Etc. trio Why?'s forthcoming tour of theaters, museums and other large and unique venues. The group is planning on previewing new material on the early fall tour, which kicks off at Memorial Hall on Sept. 14. Advanced tickets can be purchased at MOTR in person or at this link.
