Construction is set to begin this year on a new 171-room hotel just off the University of Cincinnati's campus.

Hotel Celare, a Tribute Portfolio hotel developed by Ohio's Crawford Hoying and Shaner Hotels, is planned to be built in the District at Clifton Heights development, per a release from Crawford Hoying.

Located at 310 Straight St., the hotel will have a “jump lobby, rooftop bar, multiple outdoor spaces and more," says Crawford Hoying. With seven stories and 132,000 square feet of space, Hotel Celare will have plenty of room for guests, including parents visiting their UC students.

“The new Hotel Celare will mark our seventh hotel in Ohio and our 47th Marriott-branded property,” says Plato Ghinos, president of Shaner Hotels, in the release. “We will use this market and brand expertise to ramp up the hotel more quickly. Upon completion, we are confident the hotel quickly will take its place as the destination of choice for business and leisure travelers to the area.”

The hotel, designed by Meyers+Associates, will feature queen and king rooms with a 24-hour gym, flexible meeting areas and a business center. The ground floor will offer retail and restaurant space for lease. And on the roof, a hotel bar will offer guests a drink and a view of the city.

“We’re thrilled to bring Hotel Celare to the vibrant Cincinnati community,” says Bob Hoying, principal at Crawford Hoying. “This exciting new hotel will offer extensive amenities, dining and entertainment options, as well as a uniquely curated experience for visitors to enjoy.”

Crawford Hoying says that each of their Tribute Portfolio hotels in their “growing upscale to upper-upscale hotel line” has a “unique brand, which leads the service and architectural and interior design.” Hotel Celare’s aesthetic will be “curating curiosity" —created by Norris Design, this vibe will be achieved with the use of vibrant colors, patterns and “lush materials.”

Hotel Celare will be located in the District at Clifton Heights. This development, also from Crawford Hoying, is a 5-acre mixed-use development to be built at the corner of Straight Street and Clifton Avenue, just off the University of Cincinnati’s campus. Housing complex The Deacon was the first of this development to be built, but eventually the District is slated to include commercial space, multi-family housing and the Tri Delta Sorority House.
