Cincinnati Ballet tops off its 2009-10 season with The Sammy Project!, a lively mixed bill that promises to please. Spanning a repertoire of wildly diverse styles, the trio of works showcases the dancers’ ever-expanding, far-reaching talents.

Legendary choreographer Twyla Tharp’s much-lauded In the Upper Room (the third Tharp piece the Ballet has presented) brings hyperkinetic technical prowess to the stage with geometric complexity. Other big names involved: Philip Glass composed the original score, and Norma Kamali designed the bold costumes.

Rising star choreographer Darrell Grand Moultrie premiers his The Sammy Project!, a crowd-pleasing, showy suite celebrating the music and moves of Sammy Davis Jr. in grand form.

Friday and Saturday at the Aronoff Center for the Arts downtown. Tickets are $25-$80.
