Looking to see red-hot dance this summer? Thanks to arts innovation movement: aim cincinnati, you don’t need to wait for the fall season to get your dance fix, whether you like ballet, contemporary, aerial or even tap dance. It’s time for aim cincinnati’s (formerly known as ballet tech cincinnati) annual Gala of International Dance Stars showcase production at the Aronoff Center. 2011 marks the event’s 10th year running, and this show brings the biggest ever cast to the stage. As always, the lineup boasts the best dancers from acclaimed national and international companies, such as American Ballet Theater, New York City Ballet, Mariinsky Theatre and National Dance Company of Spain. But this year, audiences not only get to enjoy many world premier works from top-tier male-female dancing pairs, they’ll also get to take in first-time ensemble cast pieces from Joffrey Ballet and Ballet Noir Company. There’s local representation, too: Cincinnati Ballet Principal Dancers Janessa Touchet and Cervilio Amador return this year, and former Cincinnati Ballet dancer Dmitri Trubchanov, now a Colorado Ballet Principal, performs with Olga Pavlova, formerly of the Bolshoi Ballet. You might also recognize Darrell Grand Moultrie’s name; he’s choreographed memorable contemporary works for Cincinnati Ballet’s The Sammy Project, New Works and more. In short, this one-night-only Gala promises a truly diverse show that’s not to be missed.
