A dog trapped under an enclosed patio in Blue Ash was rescued by firefighters yesterday.

Officials with the Blue Ash Fire Department said in a release that they were called out to the incident in the 9400 block of Benchmark Lane on Tuesday, Nov. 2.

They say the pup, Shadow, was stuck behind a support beam. Firefighters had to cut a hole in the patio and climb under to dig a hole for him to escape.

To coax Shadow out, the firefighters used string cheese and treats.

Fortunately, Lt. Patrick Pyles was eventually able to pull the pup to freedom.

Shadow was unharmed and firefighters say they reinforced the area so it won’t happen again.

Shadow's story is just another in a recent spate of good-news dog tales (tails?). In July, Gertie the dog was rescued by the Cincinnati Fire Department after being stuck behind a garage wall in Northside for five days.

And in October, a pitbull mix, Tyson, was basically unhurt after falling 170 feet at the Red River Gorge.
