EFT

Road to Wellness

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is one ofmore than two dozen methods of energy therapy that have come into use in recent years. An energy therapy or energy psychology uses specific techniques and applied principles to create desired change in thought, emotion and behavior.

The basic premise of EFT is the belief that the cause of all negative or unwanted emotions is a disruption of the body's energy system. A distressing or traumatic memory causes the disruption, which results in the negative emotion. If the memory doesn't cause a disruption, then the negative emotion can't occur. This is thought to explain why some people are affected by their memories and others aren't; some might or might not have a tendency for their energy systems to become imbalanced. Therefore, it's reasoned, all negative emotions have the same cause.

Over 5,000 years ago the Chinese discovered the meridian system of the body, a complex system of invisible energy circuits that run throughout the body. Acupuncture, acupressure and other energy therapies work to balance this electrical system that's vital to our physical health.

In 1980, Dr. Roger Callahan, working with a patient with an intense water phobia, tried tapping at the meridian points under her eyes. This sent pulses through the meridian and cleared the disruption, balancing her energy flow. Once balanced, her fear disappeared.

EFT addresses polarity blockage and reversal, which it likens to "having your batteries in backwards." When this system is working properly, it doesn't interfere with attempts to remove the disruptions. Once that's addressed, there is a system of tapping with fingertips at the endpoints of certain meridians along with a few other components of their "basic recipe."

The whole process takes only a minute and is repeated as many times as necessary until the anxiety level is at or close to zero. Many times it only takes one sequence to get to this point; other times, depending on the complexity of the issue, it might take several times.

EFT can be used on any illness or issue regardless of its complexity, because its premise regards the origin of all of them as a disruption to the energy system. For more information, visit www.emofree.com.
