Covington gallery Eine Kleine Photograph — inspired by the German-style village of MainStrasse as well as Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik — means "a small photo." It's a small gallery, too. Art enthusiasts stopping by on a First Friday Gallery Hop might find themselves rubbing elbows, literally, with other visitors. Three rooms open to the public provide an intimate setting to view a rotating guest show and gallery owner and curator Ron Durham's tremendous, epic sepia and black-and-white photographs from his journeys around the world.

Eine Kleine is also Grand Central Station for the First Friday Gallery Hop, the simultaneous opening of art galleries and shops in Northern Kentucky. Durham has been coordinating First Friday events and distributing the brochures since he opened his gallery in November 2003.

"Gallery hops were dumped into my lap when I opened," Durham says. "I expanded them to include all of Northern Kentucky because I feel the more participants we have the more visible and vital we'll become."

As hip, new art spaces move in on the block — including Scribbles Café, the hair-salon-slash-art-gallery Noah's Art and the new modernist gallery M — Eine Kleine remains the fine art heart of Main-Strasse and the gallery hop. Currently showing: dramatic black-and-white photography of Cincinnati educator and artist Lisa Britton.
