Today is the most perfect day of 2010 so far weather-wise. Get out and enjoy it with two of the biggest names in local music this evening at the Cincinnati Zoo, where "Tunes & Blooms" takes place each Thursday in April in honor of the explosion of colorful blooming flowers in the Botanical Gardens (aka "Zoo Blooms"). The series kicks off tonight at 6 p.m. with nationally-acclaimed local bands Wussy and Pomegranates.—-
Next week (April 8) the series features the many sides of Bluegrass with the Comet Bluegrass All-Stars and Rumpke Mountain Boys. April 15 teams two of the best melody-making crews in Cincy, The Newbees and The Seedy Seeds. April 22 sees the return of local Power Pop legends psychodots and Gypsy Jazz quartet The Faux Frenchmen. The series closes out April 29 with a fantastic Roots/Americana one-two punch: Jake Speed & the Freddies and The Turkeys.
Admission to the shows is free; music lovers can start showing up at 5, but any earlier and you have to pay Zoo admission. Parking in the Zoo lots is $7 (although there are usually about a gazillion open parking spots on the surrounding streets).
Now get off of your computer and go!
