Kick off Oktoberfest season Friday with Cincinnati’s oldest celebration of German culture, heritage and, of course, beer. With more than 40 years to perfect the art of sauerkraut and schnitzel, the Germania Society’s Oktoberfest is one of the most authentic in the city. Come hungry and wear a belt with a few extra notches, because between the Klubhouse sauerbraten dinner, schwenkbraten and Limburger cheese sandwiches, you’re going to need the space. Wash down your five helpings of dinner with various Warsteiner and Spaten biers. Enjoy classic German entertainment provided by the Enzian and Donauschwaben Dancers on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday afternoon hosts the tug-o-war competition featuring teams from Donauschwaben, Germania, Hoffbrau and more. $3. Ages 12 and under free. Through Sunday, Aug. 26: 6 p.m.- midnight Friday; 2 p.m.-midnight Saturday; noon-10 p.m. Sunday. Germania Park, 3529 W. Kemper Road, Pleasant Run.
