It’s been an odd, but rewarding, journey for the Imagination Movers. They started in New Orleans with the idea of doing a kids show for the local PBS station there. As part of that project they became a band and wrote some songs. The TV show never came to fruition, but the band took off. Serendipitously, they found themselves on Disney Channel with a TV show bringing it all full circle. They recently moved to Disney’s new channel Disney Junior, and are currently on tour. Through it all they have remained prolific songwriters and performers. “We perform our songs live in concert,” says “Mover” Scott Durbin. “It’s not a track or a CD, it’s us making the music, so I think that makes us special (in the kid’s music genre).” Another unique aspect is their ability to appeal to those beyond their target demographic, including parents and older siblings. “Part of being in the Imagination Movers is showing our influences in live performances. We like to pepper our shows with songs we know parents like us will enjoy. You might hear a little ‘Iron Man,’ or some Blink-182.” 4 and 7 p.m. $18-$35. Aronoff Center for the Arts, Downtown. 513-621-ARTS, cincinnatiarts.org.
