The Center for Holocaust & Humanity Education and Hebrew Union College — Jewish Institute of Religion are presenting a day of learning to mark the 75th anniversary of the Kristallnacht (“Night of Broken Glass”) pogrom in Nazi Germany, a series of coordinated attacks against defenseless Jews that signaled Nazi intent to carry out the Holocaust.

Events are at Mayerson Hall and the highlight will be the 5:30 p.m. dedication of the sculpture “Crystal Night,” by Hungarian artist Maria Lugossy, in memory of Rabbi Alfred Gottschalk. Events begin at 3 p.m. with a screening of the Holocaust-related documentary Rescue in the Philippines. After a 6:15 p.m. reception, James Young will lecture at 7 p.m. on “The Arts of Holocaust: Memory in Time and Space.”
