Since 1869, Cincinnati’s been a baseball city — the first professional one, in fact, thanks to the Cincinnati Red Stockings. And the Cincinnati Vintage Base Ball Club is putting those red stockings back on for a day of old fashioned baseball at the Heritage Village and Sharon Woods Park. This isn’t your father’s game, it’s not even your grandfather’s game — it’s baseball before all the gear. This year, six vintage teams from the Midwest (Cincinnati, Columbus, Upper Sandusky and Belleville, Ill.) will use their bare hands instead of gloves to play the game as faithfully as possible to 1869 rules — knickerbocker uniforms and all. There will also be typical baseball food, and the Victorian-era Heritage Village will open its doors for free house tours. Take me back to the ball game.

10 a.m. Saturday. Free. Heritage Village and Sharon Woods Park, 11450 Lebanon Road, Sharonville, cincyvbb.com/queencityfestival.
