More than 35 years ago, WEBN organized a fireworks show to celebrate its 10-year anniversary. Now, it’s evolved into an annual, all-day celebration: Riverfest. In addition to good food, music and one of the largest firework displays in the Midwest set to music from WEBN, fest-goers can expect to see nearly 500,000 other people and a river full of boats.
Also, before the fireworks, at 3 p.m., the Freestore Foodbank will host its 20th Rubber Duck Regatta (rubberduckregatta.com). Every $5 duck provides 15 meals for hungry kids, and people will drop as many as 20,000 rubber ducks from the Purple People Bridge into the Ohio River for a race to benefit the foodbank. The owner of the winning duck gets a new car.
Fireworks at 9:05 p.m. Free. Sawyer Point and Yeatman's Cove, 705 E. Pete Rose Way, Downtown,
