Spring’s balmy warmth always seems like the ideal time for a visit to the Taft Museum of Art. A true urban oasis, one can wander through its outdoor gardens and Federal villa (or just sit and eat on the garden patio) and imagine what Cincinnati might have been like some 80-odd years ago when the Baum-Longworth-Taft House first opened as a museum.

Friday, the Taft’s curator of education, Nancy Huth, will lead visitors on a walk around the museum and through its gardens to learn about the history of the building and the evolution of the grounds.

If you’re feeling ambitious, you can return a few days later for Sunday’s Mother’s Day brunch, which takes place under the tent in the museum’s garden, and impress mom with all your newfound knowledge.

The tour takes place 1:30 p.m. Friday and costs $10 for non-members (free for members). Brunch ($25 adults; $10 children) is 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. Advance paid registration required for both events. Taft Museum of Art, 316 Pike St., Downtown, 513-241-0343, taftmuseum.org
