In an atmosphere of celebration, acceptance and activism, the University of Cincinnati will host a production of The Vagina Monologues as part of the global V-Day campaign, an activist movement to end violence against women and girls.

Sponsored by the UC Women’s Center, every UC student and Cincinnatian is encouraged to attend the play — a series of monologues cultivated from interviews conducted by Eve Ensler that has become the centerpiece of a larger anti-violence campaign — even if the word “vagina” makes them squeamish. The mission is to give the entire Cincinnati community an outlet to discover how feminism and activism touch their lives.

All proceeds benefit the university, local and global charities like the UC Women’s Center, Women Helping Women and the One Billion Rising global campaign.

7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. $10; free for students. Zimmer Auditorium, University of Cincinnati campus, 315 College Drive, Clifton Heights, [email protected], uc.edu/ucwc/we/vday.
