Strap on your favorite pair of designer shoes and check out some of the area’s finest creations from 5-10 p.m. Saturday during “Art is Gay.” This gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender art event is free and open to the public at Northside Tavern (4163 Hamilton Ave., Northside). You’ll have the pleasure of viewing all mediums of art from more than 30 artists. The show and sale will include sculptures, paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery, drawings, fiber art and more.
Swing by the bar 5-8 p.m. to partake in some killer happy hour deals. Purchase your favorite glass of wine for $4 while screening Kelly Piller’s exhibit. Swig back your draught beer of choice for $3.25 as you marvel at Joey Kim’s photographs. Gander at Lindsey Graff’s exhibit while sipping on a $3 well drink. Stroll through Carrie Wagner’s works of art before specifying the brand of alcohol you admire best with $3.50 call drinks. If these exhibits and drink specials don’t get you excited, rip off those designer jeans and throw on your dang-dangs (or booty shorts, for those not privy) for live music, DJs and dance from 7 p.m.-2 a.m. Those 21 and up can get their grind on for free with music from Pike, Shawn Penick, DJ Gerald and many more talented artists. Come out and save the pride in Northside!
